Dr Sanjay Valand is originally from the UK and moved to Australia in 2009 for more control over his training, warmer weather and an outdoor lifestyle. He began emergency medicine training at Gold Coast Hospital, obtaining his FACEM in 2017. Married with children, he is now focussing on getting the work-life balance just right. A keen traveller, he’s got his sights on regular family holidays, with an emphasis on going off the beaten track. During down time he enjoys flight sims and someday would like to get a pilot’s licence. Days out with the family include picnics, beach days, theme parks and walks or cycling around the nearby Hinze dam.
